Bethel Horizons Bike-A-Thon returns on National Trails Day

41 Years. Countless Miles. Some traditions stick around because they work, and others stick around because people love them.

For 41 years, riders of all ages have laced up helmets, gathered friends, and hit the trail for the Bethel Horizons Bike-A-Thon. This June, one of the region’s longest-running community rides rolls back onto the trail.  Everyone is invited.  On Saturday, June 6, 2026, Bethel Horizons will host its 41st Annual Bike-A-Thon, a free community ride and walk held on National Trails Day along Wisconsin’s scenic Military Ridge Trail.

This isn’t a race. There’s no registration fee. No pressure to wear spandex. No requirement to be a serious cyclist.  Ride a little. Ride a lot. Walk if you’d rather. Show up as you are.  Participants can choose from multiple route options from Mount Horeb to Barneveld (9.3 miles), Ridgeway (14.7 miles), or all the way to Bethel Horizons in Dodgeville (28.3 miles).

    Event Details:

    • Date: Saturday, June 6, 2026
    • Time: 10:00 am – 2:00 pm
    • Location: Military Ridge Trail, Mount Horeb, WI
    • For event details, registration information, or to donate, visit: https://bethelhorizons.org/events/

Following the Bike-A-Thon, a free community picnic and worship services will be provided by Bethel Lutheran Church open to all at Bethel Horizons Camp at 5PM, with services following at 6PM.

The goal? Turn miles into meaning.  Participants are encouraged to gather pledges or sponsors to support Bethel Horizons’ Adventure and Environmental Education programs, helping provide experiences that connect young people with the outdoors, challenge them to grow, and build lifelong appreciation for the natural world.

    Funds raised support:
    • Climbing and biking equipment
    • Nature Center animal care
    • Safety inspections and ropes course maintenance
    • Trail and facility improvements
“Every mile helps create experiences that connect people with nature, themselves, and each other,” said Eric Knueve, Executive Director of Bethel Horizons. “People come for the ride, but they return because it feels like community.  If they end up helping us fund our kids programs, then that's just a cherry on top of our mission”
