A nonprofit school of arts and crafts founded in 2004 by local artists and community
members, Shake Rag Alley’s 2.5-acre campus in the historic heart of Mineral Point,
Wisconsin, is a national destination for participants of adult workshops, a robust
summer youth program, and a host of annual special community events. In addition,

Position Title: Registrar/Bookkeeper
Department: Administration
Status: Part Time non exempt
Pay & Benefits: $18.00-20.00/hour, depending on experience; PTO; paid holidays; cell
phone stipend; workshop discount
Schedule: Flexible 20 hours/week; a partially hybrid/remote schedule possible; some
nights/weekends
Position Summary
Reporting to the Executive Director and working collaboratively with administrative staff,
the Registrar/Bookkeeper performs bookkeeping, data management, workshop
registration, financial reporting, and administrative functions that contribute to the ability
of Shake Rag Alley Center for the Arts to successfully achieve its mission. Provides
excellent and timely customer service to colleagues, Board members, volunteers,
donors, students, instructors, vendors, and the public. This position has opportunities for
growth with the right candidate.
Primary Responsibilities
Bookkeeping
? Manages day-to-day bookkeeping, including payment of monthly bills,
recording of daily income from all sources, processing of donations, and
preparation of monthly financial summaries.
? Manages payments and accounts and prepares checks and recurring
charges for all payments in a timely fashion.
? Manages annual vendor contracts and rental agreements.
? Processes all room rental income as sales receipts. Tracks and pays room
and sales tax.
? Make deposits of cash and check income in a timely fashion.
? Reconciles the checking account, credit card deposits, and petty cash.

Data Management and Registrar
? Manages the Shake Rag Alley database to track and update donations,
instructor information for payment, mailing lists, instructors, and workshop
registrations.
? Processes donations of cash gifts, grants, items, and volunteer time, and
prepares appropriate letters of thanks and receipts.
? Manages adult and youth workshop registrations data and monitors the
accuracy of website registration entries and class cancellations. Processes
workshop charges, and refunds as needed.
? Prepares data reports or mailing lists as requested.
Other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
? Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, arts administration, or related field
from an accredited educational institution.
? Experience with Quickbooks, database management, e-commerce, and other
financial management software
? Enthusiasm for Shake Rag Alley’s mission and ability to demonstrate
flexibility, friendliness, and patience in all situations.
? Computer and Internet proficiency to include Google Drive, Gmail,
cloud-based registration, and database systems.
? Attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, and an orientation
towards teamwork.
