Mixed Media Fiber Jewelry
Are you an equal opportunity maker? Like to experiment with handwork? Save your scraps for “something cool”? Bring your fabric scraps, floss, and beads and join us for a weekend of mixed media fiber jewelry. Turn your flotsam and jetsam into beautiful new treasures. Do you have an odd found object or broken jewelry parts you want to repurpose? Explore ways to use bits and pieces left over from other projects and turn them into funky one-of-a-kind jewelry. Paper piecing, yo-yos, pompoms, tassels, fabric beads, fabric wrapping, shrink plastic, photo transfer, and making your own cabochons are a few of the techniques we will cover. No previous jewelry experience necessary, but students should be comfortable using a needle and thread. Materials Fee includes: findings, shrink plastic, image transfer materials, and communal supplies for use in class.
