    MINERAL POINT, Wis.—Shake Rag Alley will once again host Fiber Faire in conjunction with the annual Cornish Festival & Celtic Celebration. On Saturday, Sept. 27 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., farmers, fashionistas, and makers will be on hand to share all the wonderful ways fiber can be used. Join Shake Rag Alley for demos, shopping, and a fashion show, all during Mineral Point’s Cornish Festival & Celtic Celebration!

    This year’s Fiber Faire events will include demos with the following; Maday Delgado, talking about construction, hand stitching, and disassembling used jeans for an upcycled denim project; Carole Spelić, fiber & mixed media artist, demonstrating weaving; Shannon Badger and Dar Bicha-Dale, demonstrating spinning; Midwest Linen Revival, sharing about sustainably grown flax and processed linen to benefit local farmers and economies, while building community; Terri Wolf, fiber artist, demonstrating felting in all sorts of ways; and sheep from Sugar Spring Farm

    Not to be missed at this year’s Fiber Faire is the fashion show at 2 p.m. All are welcome to show off fiber creations, their upcycled aesthetics, and fashion do’s for bragging rights. Fiber Faire will also feature sweet and salty treats from The Sweet Life Ice Cream Parlor. 

    Unique crafters, makers, artists, and artisans are invited to show their wares and creations at the Fiber Faire Pop-up Market. The Fiber Faire market will be open 10 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. $35 includes a 6-foot table and 2 chairs set up under tents on the Green.     Alley Stage Reading Series: Stop the Monsanity! by Robert Lynn | September 7 | 4 PM

    Join us for the final play of this summer's Alley Stage Reading Series, Stop the Monsanity!: Elise has been promoted to spokesperson for the largest social justice non-profit in the country. Her husband Michael has just learned that his job as publicist will now be limited to only one client—Monsanto. The Alley Stage Reading Series platforms Midwestern playwrights and local actors, under the artistic direction of playwright Marcia Jablonski, and will be followed by a talkback session and reception.     Makers & Shakers Art Party: Paper Quilling | September 17 | 6:30-8:30 PM

    Quilling is the ancient art of rolling and shaping paper strips into intricate designs. Project leader Carol S. Getman will share a brief history of the art of quilling and teach you how to create a fun fall image to place on a decorative card. All materials provided and the quilling kit will be yours to keep (provided by Carol in memory of Shake Rag Alley co-founder, Judith Sutcliff). The quilling kit contains a slotted tool, circle sizer ruler, and quilling instruction guide. $5 (Project fee waived for middle and high school students!) 

     

    A Ghostly Gathering | October 25 | 5:30-10:30 PM

    Join us Saturday, October 25th, 2025 for the annual A Ghostly Gathering featuring a variety of festive experiences on our 2.5-acre campus in the historic heart of Mineral Point! Proceeds from this fall fundraiser support Shake Rag Alley arts and crafts programming and historic preservation. This year we’re leaning into a noir theme—channel your inner femme fatale and wise crack your way through the evening! $25 advance tickets available through October 25.     Trick’r Treat | October 31 | 5-7 PM

    If you are a kid or want to act like a kid – put on your wildest costume and come to Shake Rag Alley! Children of all ages will meet friendly (not scary) costumed characters who will be passing out Halloween treats at each of the Shake Rag historic buildings. This Mineral Point tradition is enjoyable for the whole family and a way to meet so many other free spirits and check out their wacky get-ups.
