Pendarvis State Historic Site
; a restored Cornish miner’s colony offers a glimpse into the life of early Mineral Point with guided tours. Costumed interpreters will lead your group through quaint stone and rock buildings that mirror those the early immigrants left behind in the native English villages. Crooked paths meander through rock walled gardens and lush greenery. The Museum store offers an extensive line of books, toys, English tea wares, Cornish jewelry and much more. The Pendarvis Exhibit Gallery features changing displays of historic art and artifacts.

Pendarvis is open daily, mid May through mid October. 608.987.2122 www.wisconsinhistory.org/pendarvis
Orchard Lawn/The Gundry House was the home of Joseph Gundry and his family, early merchants in Mineral Point. Their home, owned and operated by the Mineral Point Historical Society, offers a view of life that is a dramatic contrast to the “working class” miner’s homes at Pendarvis. Orchard Lawn is situated on 9 acres with beautiful gardens and lawns, allowing groups an opportunity to relax and envision the style of life for the Gundry family in the later 1800s. Orchard Lawn is open for tours Fri – Sat- Sun, June – August. Group tours can be arranged anytime. 608.987.2884

Shake Rag Alley: The 2.5 acres called Shake Rag Alley began in the 1800s as miners cottages surrounding Federal Spring. Houses and sheds were built and rebuilt over the years. In the 1970s Madison florist, Al Felly purchased the properties, renovated buildings, and created award winning All America Select gardens. It became a major tourist attraction with artisans at work in the buildings. Sold in 1990, the property went through several hands until rescued in October 2004 by a community group which created a non-profit organization for arts education. The Shake Rag Alley Center for the Arts holds a diverse variety of fascinating hands-on workshops throughout the year. www.shakeragalley.com. 608.987.3292
