Shake Rag Alley, the historic heart of Mineral point, is home to an energetic neweducation center for visual, performance, and literary arts. It is truly a unique opportunity to experience the world of art in a magical and historical setting.
The Shake Rag Alley Center for the Arts offers hands-on workshops throughout the year for all ages. The central campus is situated in Mineral Point’s downtown oasis – a tree-shaded, flower-filled, stream crossed park with nine historic structures, including an 1828 original log cabin, the oldest building in this historic mining town.
The Shake Rag Alley Center for the Arts was formed in 2004 as a non-profit organization to preserve this historic location and promote the arts through education and just plain fun! The Living Arts Center uses classroom space in Shake Rag Alley’s nine historic buildings as well as in art studios located throughout this energetic art community.

Instructors are drawn from a wealth of talent - locally, regionally and nationally. Classes are casual and fun, but full of hands-on learning experience. The “gatherings’ of workshops, sometimes as many as 50 packed into a 3 or 4 day weekend, offer exciting learning as well as great fellowship.
Try your hand at spinning, weaving, basketry, doll art, plastering, screenwriting, woodcarving, papermaking, painting, and much more! Check the Shake Rag Alley calendar for updated information on classes and other events. {www.shakeragalley.com}
